National Sports day is celebrated on August 29th of every year,honoring Major Dhyanchand who was a legendary Indian hockey player on his birth anniversary.On the occasion of National sports day,various sporting activities are conducted across schools and colleges.This day is a reminder of the vital role sports and fitness play in a person's health.It emphasizes the need for physical activity in an increasingly sedentary world.
Every year National sports day is celebrated at Ekadaksha Learning Center,engaging the children and teachers in active games and sports activities.Games and sports are a part of the curriculum and regular practise sessions too happen consistently for our children to understand and develop good knowledge and understanding about the rules of the games.
This year,National sports day was celebrated by organising the "ELC Cricket Match" at Whistle,Urban sports hub,Nungambakkam.The match was played between two teams,Team A with children under the captaincy of Mr.Kaushik ram and Ms.Uttara and Team B with children under the captaincy of Ms.Soundarya and Mr.Chandramouli.
Mr.Hiten Joshi,Trustee of Ekadaksha Learning Center,graced the event and the toss was done by him.Team B won the toss and Ms.Soundarya and team chose to bowl first.
The game was modified to suit the needs of our children and. With regular practise and cricket matches happening at school,the children are now familiar and play the game with only little prompt and guidance from their teachers. Many children have learnt the skill of following the ball and hit it independently.Team A finished their batting with a total of 44 runs.Team B who were the chasing team took up batting and it was a tough fight.They scored 46 runs and won the match by 2 runs.

All the children did their part in a wonderful manner - batting,bowling and fielding.They have definitely learnt to multi task. Sports and games have helped indirectly to pick up so many values and skills for life.
With so much enthusiasm,cheering up from the teachers,teammates and well wishers who attended the event,the match was so interesting with lot of fun moments too.End of the match,Ms.Madhavi,Ms.Sapna and Ms.Gita Ganesh,well wishers of Ekadaksha distributed the trophy and medals for the winners and runners of the match.
National sports day events encourage young people to participate in sports and develop their skills.This day also serves as an inspiration for people of all ages to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle.By incorporating active sports in our lifestyle lets together pledge to stay healthy and lead a happy,healthy life and collectively contribute towards developing a healthy nation.
